4. The Undertaker vs. Edge – Hell in a Cell – SummerSlam 2008

By time this match took place, The Undertaker and Edge had been feuding for over a year at this point, ever since Edge successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on a fallen World Heavyweight Champion after Taker had been bloodied and battered following a Steel Cage match vs. Batista and a post-match beatdown from Mark Henry on the May 8 episode of SmackDown.

That feud eventually brought them to the main event of WrestleMania 24, where The Deadman defeated Edge for the title.

Months later, the feud reached its zenith when the Rated R Superstar exiled The Undertaker from WWE after defeating him for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Title vs. Career TLC Match at One Night Stand 2008. However, after The Ultimate Opportunist cheated on his fiancee – SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero – and got caught, incited her rage enough for her to not only reinstate The Undertaker as a WWE Superstar, but book the two in a Hell in a Cell match at the Biggest Party of the Summer.

This was a fantastic match because both Superstars displayed amazing chemistry after working together for the better part of a year, but because the match offered a payoff to every significant moment in that feud. We got callbacks to Edge smashing Taker over the head with a camera, his brutal conchairtos on Big Evil, the use of ladders, etc. All of it got referenced and if you followed this storyline for the last year, it felt like being rewarded for being such a loyal viewed and paying such close attention to this storyline.

Satisfying conclusion to a satisfying storyline.
