NXT TakeOver: Toronto 2019 match predictions
Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) (c) vs. Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly)- NXT Tag Team Championship Match
Outside of a brief staredown following the Street Profits’ successful title defense against Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan, the contract signing between these two teams on last Wednesday’s NXT was the only hype this match received.
Fortunately, the Profits and the team formerly known as reDRagon made the most of the oft-used trope to establish the contrasts between these two duos (aside from the obvious): Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish are the smarmy, overconfident tandem that doesn’t see the Profits as legitimate threats, and the champions are the upstarts out to prove that they are worthy of holding the gold.
Given the parties involved, this match could end up as the weakest of the five in terms of quality, but it should still be pretty good.
Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford are still green, but their workrate and continuity have grown since their debut a few months ago, so it’s best not to worry about them wetting the bed on the big stage. Besides, the phenomenal O’Reilly and Fish will shepherd them along and make them look good.
Picking a winner in this one is tough. On one hand, it feels like the Undisputed Era will get the big moment with them winning all the men’s championships (more on that later) and the Profits’ recent cameos on RAW further reinforces that hypothesis.
On the other, the Profits losing would cement them as lame-duck champions that only won them because the Viking Raiders got tired of defending them, especially after proclaiming their need for victory in that contract signing. Sadly, the writers are probably more interested in giving UE a hallmark night.
Prediction: Undisputed Era win the NXT Tag Team Championships (Kyle O’Reilly pins Angelo Dawkins)
