WWE: Who should be called up from NXT after SummerSlam?
Once WWE SummerSlam weekend ends, these three NXT stars would potentially make for great fits on either RAW or SmackDown Live.
At some point in everyone’s life, there’s a graduation process. Whether it’s school, work, or something as trivial as playing video games, most people reach a moment where they’ve mastered a discipline and it’s time to take on a new challenge.
In theory, this is what WWE’s main roster represents for the NXT roster. In addition to a presumed pay raise, earning a promotion to either RAW or SmackDown gives the men and women of the company’s developmental arm a wider audience to, depending on their babyface/heel designation, either win over or draw the ire of the paying spectators. It’s more arduous than playing to the same Full Sail crowd during a three-hour taping loop, but that’s the point, isn’t it?
In practice, however, moving from NXT to one of WWE’s flagship shows feel more like relegation for most of the supposedly lucky call-ups. There are some success stories but more often than not, many of the performers who thrived in Triple H’s independent wrestling All-Star federation fall victim to the parity booking that has sapped most of the drawing power out of most of the main roster.
Still, there’s always hope that the next round of standout NXT wrestlers will break this frustrating trend. Out of everyone down in Florida, these three have the best chance to do so.
