Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have been on a roll since capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles two weeks ago, but who is next in line to face this dominant duo?

When Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross first formed a friendship, there was no shortage of people shouting from the rooftops that Cross was being used and Bliss would eventually turn on her. That technically still could happen, but it’s unlikely that the duo steamrolling the WWE women’s tag team division will be breaking up any time soon.

Bliss and Cross teamed together for the first time on WWE Raw back in May. They competed in a six-woman tag team match alongside Becky Lynch against The IIconics and Lacey Evans. It was Becky Lynch who got them the win in that match, but at the time there was still little faith in the pairing of Bliss and Cross.

Alexa Bliss didn’t even participate in that match, and they struggled to find success when challenging Bayley in a Handicap Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. However, things finally came together for them on WWE Raw just two weeks ago.

WWE explained that The IIconics had been “ducking” challengers for weeks, while the reality is WWE was just poorly booking the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Regardless of the reason, this led to a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

The IIconics had to defend against The Kabuki Warriors, Fire & Desire, and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. The first team to go was The IIconics as Billie Kay was pinned by Mandy Rose following a running knee strike.

With the champions eliminated, we knew there would be new champions. Fire & Desire and The Kabuki Warriors had previously fought for the titles, which is why most people probably expected one of those teams to pick up the win.

Mandy’s success didn’t last, as an Asuka Lock forced her to tap out and eliminated her and Sonya Deville. That left only The Kabuki Warriors facing Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Kairi Sane was looking to end it with the Insane Elbow, but Cross intervened and Alexa was able to hit Twisted Bliss to pick up the win and capture the titles.

Since winning the titles, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have continued to win. At the SummerSlam Kickoff Show, The IIconics got a rematch because they hadn’t been pinned by eventual champions Bliss and Cross. Alexa and Nikki won.

The next night, they defended the titles against The Kabuki Warriors. It was a great match, but it ended the same as the last time they’d fought. Alexa and Nikki won.

Last night on WWE Raw, they faced off with Fire & Desire in a non-title match. Despite a great effort by Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, things ended in a familiar manner. Alexa and Nikki won.

More from WWE

In just two weeks, they’ve torn through the entire established women’s tag team division. The only other teams to have previously competed for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles are The Riott Squad, The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection, Nia Jax & Tamina, Beth Phoenix & Natalya, and Carmella & Naomi.

Literally, every single one of those teams isn’t currently viable. Ruby Riott is injured, and Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan have been split up onto separate brands. Bayley and Sasha Banks are also on different brands and clearly doing their own things. Nia Jax and Tamina are both out due to injury. Beth Phoenix is no longer active and is a commentator on NXT now. Lastly, Carmella and Naomi are also on separate brands.

So where does that leave the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions? Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss have been firing on all cylinders as champions, but they’ll need some competition to keep their reign special and the titles relevant.

With the announcement that NXT is going to USA and will also be two hours, we might finally see the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles defended there in the way that Sasha Banks and Bayley teased while they were champions. The only way to provide new challengers from the current roster would be to create a completely new team from scratch.

In reality, WWE will likely have to make new teams regardless. The only established women’s team in NXT currently is Aliyah and Vanessa Borne, collectively called Borne and Boujee.

Next. Nia Jax and the importance of self-care in the social media age. dark

WWE is packed with talent from the main roster to the Performance Center, but they’ve had their champions plow through the entire established division in two weeks. So, unfortunately, the answer to the question is nobody.

Nobody is next in line, and that needs to change as soon as possible. Especially if Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss truly intend to truly take the division “to infinity and beyond.”
