The Street Profits

The Street Profits are a tag team that WWE Creative has already taken a liking to. Their presence on the main roster has been confusing but deliberate. Each week they’ve received screen time in multiple segments in some comedy segments that don’t always deliver. What’s intriguing is that the team has yet to have an actual match on the main roster and that’s where they have the potential to surprise many of the mainstream fans who haven’t seen their performances in the black and yellow brand.

Montez Ford may be tabbed as the star out of this team, but Angelo Dawkins has shown that he can keep up with his partner and is far from dead weight. They are a strong mix of both entertainment and in-ring performance; in many ways just scratching the latter. While some may incorrectly stereotype these athletes based on ugly gimmicks from the past, the Street Profits are able to greatly benefit from this move to USA because it allows their talents to get exposed to a much larger demographic.

Ford has “wrestling superstar” written all over him. So far, he’s delivered whenever the chance was placed in his hands. His fast-paced, wrestling style keeps fans engaged while he competes and he’s getting better as a character on the microphone. Plus, that frog splash that he’s using as a finish is a highlight-reel maneuver if there ever was one.

This team has the perfect mix to be the team of the future, especially as the WWE struggles to rebuild its tag team division across all the brands. It’s hard to find quality teams getting opportunities each week and the emergence of groups like the Street Profits helps to change that narrative.

The Street Profits are a team to watch as the tag team division is poised to get a rebirth in the WWE and moving NXT to the USA Network is going to present that fact to the larger wrestling community.
