AEW: All Out full card preview and predictions
Chris Jericho vs. Hangman Page for The AEW World Heavyweight Championship
Take a breath folks, we’ve arrived at the main event of the evening at All Out. This will determine who becomes the first ever AEW World Heavyweight Champion.
Double Or Nothing set the scene up for this match happen. Adam Page was the 21st and final entrant of the Casino Battle Royale in surprise fashion. He would go on to throw MJF over the top rope in the final stanza to earn the right to main event All Out with the inaugural AEW World title being the prize.
In the main event of Double Or Nothing, Chris Jericho would defeat Kenny Omega in a rematch of their Wrestle Kingdom 12 matchup the year before. Jericho debuted his AEW-exclusive finisher, The Judas Effect to finish off Omega. That led us to this contest which will be main eventing All Out.
Chris Jericho decided to make this match a personal affair on top the high stakes already established. Hangman Page defeated Kip Sabian at Fight For The Fallen. Jericho would brutally attack Page after the bell had rang and bloody his All Out opponent in the process. This led Page to say that he’s willing to bleed in order to win the AEW World title and the intensity was more than welcome.
Both men have been interviewed in The Road To All Out series. Page claiming that he needs this victory more than Jericho does. Stating that Jericho can go back to performing with his band ‘Fozzy’ if he wins. Page is treating this as his only opportunity to win this championship and and that he may go back to the Tobacco Farm if he fails.
Jericho fired a retort to those comments. He’s been a wrestler for almost 3 decades. The first ever undisputed WWE champion and wrestling pioneer who has gone through nearly everything there is in the business. Jericho feels if he loses this match, his legend goes to die and he rides off into sunset. Insinuating that he needs this more than Adam Page does.
The drama has been built up and we are ready to crown the first ever AEW Champion at All Out. These events normally end with the babyface being crowned as the hero and champion. AEW has already had a major event end with Chris Jericho, a crafty villain, coming out on top at Double Or Nothing.
You can argue that AEW needs new blood to carry the torch from the beginning. Hangman Page indeed fits that billing, there is no question about that. Yet how many major wrestling companies have a major television series starting up these days? How do you draw old or new fans to your product right away? You put a mega star on the marquee as your headlining champion.
Adam Page is not quite ready to carry the AEW torch just yet. His character hasn’t been fully developed in front of a mainstream audience. You can do this starting in October and have him hunt Jericho down for a rematch in the future.
All while building up the potential superstar Adam ‘Hangman’ Page could and just might be. With that being said, Chris Jericho will spoil a hero’s parade as he has done time and time before. He once again will make significant wrestling history, this time becoming the first AEW World Heavyweight champion at All Out.
