NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff match predictions
Travis Banks vs. Noam Dar
This match is apparently happening because Noam Dar has an open contract for a TakeOver: Cardiff singles match. It’s a decent enough explanation for this match’s existence, and it will probably be a very good match, but the writers had some more exciting options to choose from.
NXT UK has several feuds worthy of a spot on this card; Piper Niven vs. Rhea Ripley springs to mind. But the NXT UK creative team decided to put this here instead: a singles encounter featuring two men who have barely interacted with one another outside of Dar insulting Banks while guest commentating on “The Kiwi Buzzsaw’s” match with Kenny Williams on the Aug. 14 NXT UK.
At least the match announcement gave us a good Dar promo that showcased his obnoxious persona.

If anything, this match feels like a make-good for Travis Banks, who missed the first UK TakeOver show with an injury — a Jordan Devlin attack wrote him off the show, opening the door for a surprise Finn Balor appearance.
Assuming that’s the case, pitting the gritty babyface opposite an overconfident foil in Dar makes some sense.
This match will likely open the show, which means that these two talented workers will keep the story relatively basic: Banks will fight from underneath for most of the match before battling back with his strikes and high-risk offense.
Banks also seems like the safe pick to win here given his more favorable status, and the potential need for a crowd-pleasing moment to kick off the show — again, assuming this starts the show.
Dar can get his heat back in a squash match, or on the microphone the following Wednesday.
