Kay Lee Ray vs. Toni Storm- NXT UK Women’s Championship Match

The creative team planted the seeds for this match all the way back in May, when Kay Lee Ray peeked through the curtain to watch Toni Storm’s NXT UK Women’s title defense against Nina Samuels like a creeper.

Were there no monitors around for Ray to watch the match from instead?

Anyway, Ray won a battle royal a few weeks later to become the number one contender to Storm’s gold, later promising to make the champion’s life a “living hell”. And how did Ray accomplish this goal?

Well, she, uh, blindsided random undercard babyfaces like Candy Floss and vaguely alluded to something Storm did that fractured their friendship. Truly a diabolical heel, this Kay Lee Ray!

That said, the story improved as the weeks progressed.

The sit-down interviews these two partook in effectively recapped their pre-WWE history for anyone unaware of their backstory, which made Ray’s implications that Storm has abandoned her family — going as far as to say that Storm was the reason why her father ditched the family, among other things — hit closer to home than when Samuels employed the same strategy a few months ago.

Another thing that differentiates Kay from Samuels and Storm’s other previous opponents: she actually comes across as a legitimate threat to win the belt. Still, the smart money’s on Storm retaining and hopefully moving into a feud with Jazzy Gabert.

Prediction: Toni Storm pins Kay Lee Ray, retains NXT UK Women’s Championship
