2. Rey Mysterio Becomes #1 Contender for AJ Styles’ United States Championship

The United States Champion AJ Styles needs a challenger for Clash of Champions. Although he should be in the Universal Championship match after defeating the number one contender Braun Strowman last week, he still must defend his championship at the PPV where all championships are defended.

Rey Mysterio could be the opponent AJ Styles is looking for.

Once Mysterio came to Monday Night Raw after the Superstar Shakeup, he won the United States Championship for the very first time in his career from Samoa Joe at Money in the Bank 2019. However, his reign ran ‘short’ since he had to relinquish the championship due to injury.

Because of these continuous injuries, Mysterio feels that he has become incapable of executed his premeditated moves in the ring, especially after losing to, and being disrespected by, Andrade on numerous occasions.

Mysterio then considered retiring, but his son stopped him from doing so and gave him hope and inspiration that he can still succeed in the WWE with flying colors.

Mysterio will put his son’s hopes to the test when he returns to Raw tonight. It’s only a matter of time until he attempts to win the United States Championship back, and hopefully defend that championship longer than he did the first time he won it.

1. Sasha Banks Challenges Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions

In recent weeks, Sasha Banks has been taking shots at Natalya and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Last week, she finally settled things with Natalya in the ring when she made the Queen of Harts tap out to the Bank Statement.

Now that Natalya is out of her ‘blue’ hair, she can focus all of her attention on Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, whom she spoke about in a shoot-like promo last week on Raw.

In summary, Banks didn’t appreciate being in a low-rated women’s tag team championship match while Lynch was in the main event of WrestleMania, achieving her lifelong dream and earning lots of money.

After Sasha Banks took a look at her ‘bank statement,’ she noticed that she was not getting paid nearly enough for what she was worth to the WWE. Furthermore, she desires to control her narrative and achieve her ultimate goal of main eventing WrestleMania, just like Becky Lynch did since becoming “The Man.”

When Banks returned to the WWE, almost everyone wanted Banks and Lynch to square off for the Raw Women’s Championship.

Now that both superstars are boiling up inside and ready to ‘cash’ in on their opportunity to beat the living hell out of each other, Clash of Champions awaits the main roster debut of The Man vs. The Boss for the prestigious Raw Women’s Championship.
