The Ascension – RAW to NXT

NXT was the only place where The Ascension worked. It should b the end of their WWE career, but a different direction is needed.

Konnor and Viktor have been on the WWE main roster since 2014. Their run on RAW or SmackDown has not provided any memorable feud or match.

It might not be their fault. Currently, with so much talent in the WWE tag team division, there isn’t any room for The Ascension.

You can argue their characters are portrayed as too cartoonish, but that argument doesn’t hold much weight when you also have The Viking Raiders  on weekly television.

One benefit to NXT is that it’s a show where wrestlers who appeared on previously can always return to. Wrestlers who never consistently got off the ground on the main roster such as Tyson Kidd, Tyler Breeze, and Fandango are some examples. These wrestlers were able to breathe new life into their careers by returning to NXT briefly, all while still having the credibility to be embraced by fans.

With NXT moving to a two hour product, having The Ascension return to NXT is a win for all parties. It gives NXT more credible talent to fill television time. It gives The Ascension television time to showcase their skills amongst top NXT competition.

It isn’t a demotion, character wise, to go from RAW or SmackDown to NXT. It can be a character reset for two men who have shown potential to be dominate, but have not maximized the platform they are on. This is what the WWE Draft is supposed to give fans, new performers on new brands.
