2. How far to the dark side is Bayley willing to go?

Bayley’s vicious assault on Becky Lynch has been the source of plenty of conversations between wrestling fans recently.

The attack represented the first signs of a heel turn for Bayley, something which some believe hasn’t been capitalized on correctly since then.

Personally, I don’t see much of a problem with that at the moment.

While there’s some areas WWE could improve upon in their presentation of the angle, a delusional Bayley who’s convinced she’s still a crowd favorite and inspiration to fans everywhere sounds like a great basis for a character change to me. It adds a bit of nuance that makes the entire angle feel more developed than just a snap moment that suddenly leads to an all-out heel turn.

It also leaves the door open for a redemption arc sometime down the road where Bayley realizes Sasha Banks has been using her, and really couldn’t care less about their friendship.

With that being said, I think Clash of Champions provides an exceptional opportunity for WWE to take another step towards that future. The fact that Charlotte Flair of all people is Bayley’s opponent for the show creates the perfect opportunity for Bayley to take her new persona one step further.

By cheating to win, or engaging in some other underhand tactic, Bayley can continue her path to the dark side while still maintaining her innocence in the whole matter. It would be easy to claim that Flair had it coming, or was simply planning on doing the same sort of thing to her, thus justifying her questionable actions.

It would really be the ideal way for WWE to firmly establish their direction with this storyline, and potential prove some of it’s doubters wrong by executing a much cleaner angle this time.
