Drew Gulak (c) vs. Humberto Carrillo vs. Lince Dorado – WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Bassam Kaado: Gulak is most likely to win, but the storyline’s there for Carrillo to pull an upset based on his history with Gulak. The fact that Lince Dorado is in it means he is taking the pin, and if he takes it from Carrillo, then that would protect Gulak.

Bryan Heaton: 205 Live is in a weird state of limbo right now, and until we see just how it fits into the grander scheme of things in October, I don’t foresee any major changes to the power dynamic of the championship. So Gulak will find a way to retain, and once the Cruiserweight Division is further sorted out, then we’ll get to a proper coronation for Carrillo, or another challenger.

Chris Jeter: Given the rumors surrounding 205 Live’s potential cancellation, this match feels even more lame duck than usual. There’s no reason to take the belt off of Gulak, so I’ll take him to retain.

Chris Schad: The formula for the Cruiserweight Title pretty much remains the same. Start the night out on the pre-show and deliver one banger of a match. I think that’s what happens here. All three wrestlers are uber-talented and while it could be a chance to showcase the Cruiserweight division for a move towards NXT, I think they’ll still be relegated to opening the night.

As for the match, Gulak seems to be the guy they want to get over with the belt and most of the NXT audience already is familiar with him thanks to a pair of great matches with Matt Riddle. If the title is actually moving to NXT, Gulak is going to be the guy that carries the belt into the live show.

Joe Anthony Myrick: The Cruiserweight Championship is still fresh around Drew Gulak’s waist and there’s no reason to take it off him now. Furthermore, he just re-aligned with his frenemy, Tony Nese, the other week. At the very least, WWE need to flesh out this new partnership before knocking the legs from under it by having Gulak lay down for either Dorado or Carrillo.

Mark Justice: Although Drew Gulak has a 33% chance of retaining his championship, I’m 100% sure that Gulak is retaining. I don’t need to watch a ‘powerpoint presentation’ to realize that he will be holding onto that Cruiserweight Championship for a very long time.

Ryan Anderson: Drew Gulak has been a credible Cruiserweight Champion since winning the
championship from Akira Tozawa. There is no need to slow his momentum down by
having him lose the championship. Dorado and Carrillo are incredible pro wrestlers,
but haven’t been portrayed as legit championship contenders. This match should
have a lot of incredible spots and set the pace for Clash of Champions as a show.
