WWE Clash of Champions 2019: Daily DDT Staff Predictions
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Braun Strowman – Universal Championship
Bassam Kaado: Another addition to Seth Rollins’ weak title rivalries, Braun Strowman is a challenger that the WWE can actually get behind. Honestly, if Strowman loses this, it will be tough to see where he can go next in any booking sense. He needs this way more than Rollins, and it seems like a good time to try the title on him because Rollins has been unimpressive as champ.
Bryan Heaton: Seth Rollins may be souring on the hardcore fans of WWE and pro wrestling as a whole, but I just don’t see him dropping the Universal Championship just yet. Although I feel like I’ve been saying it’s Strowman’s time since he was flipping ambulances on the reg, it doesn’t seem right right now. Rollins should drop the title to a true heel, not a “monster” who works for the fans to pop.
Chris Jeter: This should be a fun big man/little man main event. The winner gets The Fiend at Hell in a Cell, so while a Strowman/Wyatt feud would raise some interest, Rollins will likely win to set up the more traditional heel/face dynamic.
Chris Schad: With the likely scenario that both are without their tag titles, this becomes a tightly contested match. The issue is that Rollins just got done beating Brock Lesnar (who held this belt for a full calendar year before dropping it at WrestleMania and again at SummerSlam) twice and Braun has lost to Lesnar about five or six times already. WWE has done stranger things, but it wouldn’t make sense for Braun to suddenly beat Rollins. Rollins gets the win and is jumped by The Fiend to close out the show and get us ready for Hell In A Cell.
Joe Anthony Myrick: Tough call, this one, since I don’t think either are in a position to take a loss. Seth Rollins just beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at the last PPV, while Braun Strowman only just got back into the main event picture. However, with The Fiend booked to wrestle Rollins at future house shows while rumors persist that The Fiend is challenging for that title at Hell in a Cell, I can only assume Rollins wins. How he wins, I don’t know.
Mark Justice: If taking a gander at the Universal Championship is how Superstars get title opportunities, then everyone who watches WWE on the television screen and glares at the championship should get a title shot too. Am I right or am I right?
Honestly, this feud missed the opportunity to mention Braun Strowman never getting his Universal Championship opportunity at Royal Rumble 2019 when he was replaced by Finn Balor and was the last Superstar to get eliminated by Seth Rollins in the Men’s Royal Rumble. These Superstars obviously didn’t do their homework, and it’s shameful that this match could be the main event of the entire show. But I’m going with Seth Rollins to retain because it wouldn’t make sense for him to defeat Brock Lesnar twice and then suddenly lose to Braun Strowman.
Maysum Hudda: After slaying The Beast at SummerSlam, Rollins faces another tough test against The Monster Among Men. While I do believe Rollins and Strowman will coexist during their tag match, any form of friendship between the two will be extinguished during this hard-hitting match. I think Rollins will retain the Universal Title, but an appearance from The Fiend post-match will be the biggest highlight from this bout.
Ryan Anderson: Unfortunately, due to Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman being RAW Tag Team
Champions, it has taken away from the build to their WWE Universal Championship
match. This match should mean a lot more than it does. WWE can hide their mismanaged development of this championship match by not having a clear winner.
Have the lights go out as Rollins is going for The Stomp and The Fiend appears to
take out both parties.
