The New Day (c) vs. The Revival – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Bassam Kaado: Geez, man. I never thought I would see this match-up and not care AT ALL. The Revival are drowning in WWE, and the New Day is being overshadowed by Kofi’s reign. Though these are amazing teams, I just don’t care. Better to keep on the New Day since the Revival are a RAW TEAM. Plus, your boys, the New Day, always have a special place in my heart. Revival will be rewarded in AEW.

Bryan Heaton: Unless Dash and Dawson are heading to SmackDown full-time come the rumored next draft, there’s no reason for them to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Keep the titles on New Day, and build up a real threat in-house to challenge for the fall.

Chris Jeter: If these teams get time, this could steal the show, but given the number of matches on this show, they probably won’t get it.

Picking a winner in this one is tough. On one hand, New Day literally have no other heel opponents to match up with and seeing them chase Dash and Dawson for a few months would be fun. Conversely, the Revival are a RAW team, though that’s merely an inconvenience that doesn’t seem to bother WWE much. Eh, I’ll just pick the SmackDown team to retain the SmackDown titles.

Chris Schad: I go back and forth on this one because it depends on which way WWE wants to go here. If they want the New Day to have a rough night, having Xavier Woods and Big E drop the tag title belts and having Kofi Kingston drop the WWE title later in the night would make sense. While Kofi at least had some momentum with a second Boom Drop at Madison Square Garden, both E and Xavier are coming off of injuries, which may add a layer of adversity or a reason to drop the belts. I honestly flipped a coin on this and tails mean The Revival win the titles.

Joe Anthony Myrick: Pairing The Revival with Randy Orton is one of the best decisions WWE have made in recent memory. For the first time in a long time, The Revival actually look like, well, Top Guys. Common sense tells me that after decimating The New Day for weeks (specifically in shattering Xavier Woods’ leg), The Revival capitalize on their momentum with a title win.

Mark Justice: I’m not sour! I feel the power! The New Day has this in the bag. There was very little build up to this tag match, and they seemed to only have supporting roles for the Kingston-Orton storyline. Just like Kingston needs to beat Orton, The New Day needs to beat The Revival because they have never defeated them conclusively on the main roster. I foresee them accomplishing that feat with flying rainbow colors and unicorn horns at Clash of Champions.

Maysum Hudda: A rivalry 10 years in the making will have its next chapter Sunday and an upset is looming. I believe Randy Orton will dethrone Kofi Kingston and become a 10 time WWE Champion. With the move to FOX less than a month away, Randy Orton will be crowned the new WWE Champion on the blue brand as a household name among long-time casual fans makes for good TV on a new network. Sound familiar AEW?

I do see this feud continuing into Hell in a Cell because, let’s face it, outside of Kofi, there aren’t any real contenders for the title.

Ryan Anderson: These four are a lock to have one of the best matches on a loaded card. Since
joining forces with Randy Orton, The Revival have grown as characters. By having The Revival win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, it will add more dimensions to their characters. The New Day have shown an ability to be great tag team champions and tag team challengers. A win over The New Day will do wonders for The Revival.
