The next WWE PPV is looking stacked already, but there is one match that deserves the right to main event Hell in a Cell the most: Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch.

So far, as of this writing, WWE have only announced two matches for Hell in a Cell: The Fiend vs. Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship and Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, both matches taking place inside the demonic steel structure. It really says a lot to the gravitas and the excitement of these matches that both can make a claim as the rightful main event of the PPV.

The Fiend has quickly become one of the most over acts in WWE after emerging earlier this year. Many believe that the latest rebirth of Bray Wyatt needs to be in the main event to solidify his rechristened status and play to the excitement people feel for the character. However, if we are talking about a match that truly deserves the main event spot, we have to talk about the women’s match.

Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch have feuded against each other on and off for the better part of the last four years; ever since the road leading into their match at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable. Since then, they have always delivered in the ring, including in that aforementioned show stealer at TakeOver. Even during their last match at Clash of Champions, many critics considered Banks vs. Lynch the match of the night despite ending without a decisive winner.

If we are talking about purely in-ring prowess, Banks vs. Lynch is the best option to close a PPV on. No offense to Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins, but they wrestled each other a small, handful of times on TV in 2017, and let’s just say those matches didn’t set the world on fire.

However, Lynch and Banks’ deserve to headline the next PPV far more than just because of their phenomenal chemistry. It’s because their character work and history with each other has connected strongly with audiences more than any other storyline currently on WWE TV. The heat behind their feud remains simmering hot both on television and on social media where they progress their rivalry in tweets. No matter where they’ve showcased their feud, fans have been glued to it for every second.

Much of this feud reads like a classic, old school blood feud re-contextualized in a modern era. The Hell in a Cell stipulation alone amps anticipation for their match up to 11. With as much history as these two have and the palpable excitement these two have retained together over the last month, it only makes sense to culminate this one as the show’s headliner.
