Velveteen Dream

With NXT becoming a part of the “main roster” there isn’t any reason to think that Hennigan wouldn’t have immense value and impact on that black and yellow brand. Imagine him facing off against Adam Cole and Undisputed Era – there’s a lot of potential there.

But there’s one other person on that roster that would be a better fit for a feud with John Hennigan, and that’s Velveteen Dream.

In some ways, one could draw a line between the Hennigan gimmick of the past, and that of Dream today. The arrogance, delivery, and everything in between could be used to draw subtle comparisons between the two. While there similarities may not be plentiful, that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t deliver some amazing matches in front of the NXT fan base.

Hennigan could serve as a veteran face within the NXT brand, immediately giving that group of athletes a new face to challenge, and one that would add some semblance of main event feel to the roster.

Dream has set himself apart from the rest of the NXT roster as the biggest prospect in the group. Slowly pairing him against those that have had big moments on the main roster is one way to get fans to buy into him being a big draw. John Hennigan would be a strong candidate for such a placement upon his return to the WWE.
