John Morrison’s 4 best matches during his WWE career
3. vs. Evan Bourne – ECW – 4/14/2009
Yep, another ECW contest already. Maybe ECW under the WWE brand wasn’t so bad after all. Or maybe, just maybe, Morrison stood out as such a shining star that he could always make magic no matter how good, bad, big, or small the show he was on was.
Well, The Shaman of Sexy was not the only star in the ring on this night. Evan Bourne was still a fresh competitor to WWE’s waters and had to prove himself to the WWE Universe. Morrison, meanwhile, had just became a singles star following almost three years with The Miz after the two broke up the night before.
So to usher in the first post-WWE Draft edition of ECW, they opened the show with two of the highest high flyers on the roster at the time. Their chemistry was off the charts, both men pulled off some dazzling maneuvers, and Bourne especially sold his butt off to make The Tuesday Night Delight look like a million bucks.
Ultimately, it took a Moonlight Drive from the top rope (which, not going to lie, make fun of that move all you want, but I used to love that as a finisher and miss it to this day) that offered Morrison the win in a surprising show stealer.
