John Morrison’s 4 best matches during his WWE career
1. vs. Jeff Hardy – Intercontinental Championship – Steel Cage – New Year’s Revolution 2007
Jeff Hardy been the Ricky Steamboat to John Morrison’s Ric Flair. The Rock to his Austin. The Sasha Banks to his Charlotte Flair. What I’m getting at is that Morrison and Hardy were perfect opponents for each other. Their chemistry were so sync with each other’s moves that it seems like both men were made to wrestle each other. You’d be hard pressed to find a bad one-on-one match between these two. In fact, their whole catalog is filled with excellent matches against each other.
One match that I love that pained me to leave off the list was their World Heavyweight Championship match on a 2009 SmackDown, but that is not the only title match of theirs that stuck out in my mind. Let us wind the clocks back just a couple years beforehand during the height of their Intercontinental Championship feud. A feud that offered classics on Raw, in tag team competition, and a couple memorable ladder matches. But one match that I loved so much I found it impossible to leave it out the number one spot was their cage match.
This match felt like a good ole old school cage match from the 90s, with modernized acrobats in the mix. It wasn’t just the high flying stunts between these two (though we did get a few of those, don’t worry). These two brought the intensity to make this one feel raw like a blood feud. Couple that in with a clever finish, and you’ve got the makings of one phenomenal match.
