2. Kevin Owens Defeats And Fires Shane McMahon

In recent memory, many WWE fans have advocated for Vince McMahon to step down since he is now ‘out of touch’ with the modern generation’s needs and desires. Ironically, it looks like his son, Shane McMahon, will be stepping down before he does.

Like the WWE Universe, Kevin Owens has wanted Shane McMahon off WWE television for a very long time. Due to his revolts, Shane McMahon has made Owens’ time on SmackDown Live a living hell.

Because of this feud, Owens has been screwed out of championship opportunities as well as the King of the Ring Tournament. Even when he tries to take his mind off Shane McMahon, Shane McMahon finds different ways to anger Owens.

Many thought their feud had ended at SummerSlam, in which Owens defeated Shane McMahon to save his own career in his home country of Canada. However, during that match, Owens attacked special guest referee Elias, an action that Shane McMahon fined him for as a method of backhanded revenge.

Following that, Owens became the special guest referee for Shane McMahon’s match against Chad Gable in the King of the Ring Tournament. Since Shane attacked and fired special guest referee Kevin Owens after that match, Owens decided to get payback and threaten Shane with a lawsuit due to Shane’s hypocritical actions.

Although Shane tried to compromise with KO and drop all fines out of fright from losing a court case, Owens had a better idea: a corporate ladder match with the loser fired from the WWE on this episode of Friday Night SmackDown. How great would it be if Owens defeated the best in the world on the Fox premiere of Friday Night SmackDown?

From a storyline standpoint, Owens certainly needs this win to solidify his face turn. His babyface run has yet to gain sufficient momentum, and it needs to gain it sooner rather than later.

From a business standpoint, Fox wants a sports-oriented show. Thus, managers will most likely not be a theme on the show anymore, which is a strong indicator that Shane will be on his way out.

From an insider’s standpoint, Kevin Owens reportedly has a multi-year contract with the WWE and could potentially go to NXT, so it looks like he’s not going anywhere away from WWE television anytime soon. Henceforth, expect Owens to defeat and fire Shane McMahon once and for all.
