1. Darby Allin

Darby Allin has had a great week. He started it off with a win over CIMA in a really good match on the debut of AEW Dark. After this past Wednesday, he’s one win away from becoming the second-ever AEW Champion.

Allin faced Jimmy Havok in a match to determine who faces Chris Jericho for the AEW World Title on the Oct. 16 episode of Dynamite. For many, this was a dream match featuring two men who are known for working weapons-filled extravaganza’s.

On this occasion, the two operated within the parameter of a traditional wrestling match. Fortunately, Allin and Havok are pretty good at the catch-as-catch-can grappling, and they produced a great match that ended with Allin winning via pinfall following a Coffin Drop senton.

His night didn’t end there, however. Following the main event and a heel beatdown on Dustin Rhodes that was thwarted by Cody, MJF(!), and the Young Bucks, Allin skateboarded down the ramp and kneed Jericho in the side of his head before capping off his attack with a skateboard shot to the champion’s breadbasket and back.

It seems unlikely that Allin will beat Jericho for the title, but regardless of the decision, a strong showing with one of the all-time greats will boost his standing in the eyes of the fans.
