WWE: 5 up-and-coming stars primed for a breakout after the draft
By Brett Grega
3. Buddy Murphy
Buddy Murphy is finally back baby! Fans were treated to “The Best Kept Secret” doing what he does best, wowing us in the ring, on Monday Night Raw after he was drafted in the fourth round that night.
Murphy had fallen off the radar once again after his role in the Erick Rowan and Roman Reigns storyline came to an arguably premature end.
That role, which saw him compete in several barnburner matches, proved that Murphy was someone you simply had to watch when he came on TV. That alone makes him one of the most exciting draft picks of night two.
While there’s certainly cause for concern about Murphy’s push given his recent treatment by WWE, it’s nonetheless a great sign that he was able to pick up a win over a recently pushed superstar like Cedric Alexander on his first night on the red brand.
That’s the kind of win that can kickstart Buddy Murphy towards achieving bigger and better things than just stealing the show whenever he competes. Things like a potential United States Championship match against AJ Styles, which could very well be in line considering Murphy just took down Styles’ latest challenger.
No matter what WWE ultimately does do with Murphy though, it’s practically guaranteed to make for must-see TV.
