WWE Raw: Now is not the time to end Firefly Fun House

Last night’s episode of Raw seemed to be a monumental episode in shaping not only the WWE Universe, but the Bray Wyatt character as a whole.

As the feud between WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt has continued to escalate these last few weeks, the champ promised at the top of the hour that he’ll pay a visit to the Firefly Fun House to finish this beef once and for all.

By the end of Hour 3, coincidentally while Bray was holding a new episode of Firefly Fun House, Rollins pulled up acting all brazy to Bray and decided to beat the ever loving yowies out of his wowie. Before he left, Mr. Burn It Down decided to leave the Fun House with a parting gift. You guessed it: he burned it down.

This has led many to believe that last night’s ending signaled the end of the Firefly Fun House.

It shouldn’t.

I know what you’re thinking; I’m clairvoyant that way. “But JAM,” your inner monologue begins. “How can there be a Firefly Fun House without a Firefly Fun House?”

Get him a new house. Unless his only income was paper money that burned in the fire, Wyatt can use a WWE Superstar’s income to go into any ole neighborhood and buy a new house by Friday night.

“But JAM,” your monologue persists. “If not the end of the Firefly Fun House, what should this segment mean?”

I dunno. I’m not a booker. Just don’t let it be the end of Firefly Fun House. Because here’s the thing: long before WWE welcomed The Fiend into our hearts, we welcomed Bray into ours thanks to The Firefly Fun House. At a time when the character was in desperate need of a rebranding, these black comedic segments did the trick and helped the former WWE Champion garner a new fanbase.

Which, speaking of, that’s exactly what WWE have with this new FOX deal. And now that Bray Wyatt has been added to the SmackDown roster per the Draft, the Firefly Fun House could probably do some good in highlighting him to a whole new audience. With that said, now is not the time to end the Firefly Fun House.

I understand that sometimes, all good things must come to an end, but if WWE truly wants to bring in new fans and most importantly, push Bray to a new incoming audience, the Firefly Fun House could create some intrigue. More importantly, highlighting Bray in that environment is the best way to endear him to new fans without overexposing The Fiend every week. We can get a good few weeks out of Bray without having to shove The Fiend down our throats – or worse, make him feel less special – by shilling his alter ego on every show.

Let’s assume that the Firefly Fun House really is over. Why is it over? To intensify a feud between The Fiend and Rollins for Crown Jewel? Okay, sure, but then what happens when the feud is over? Especially when it’s likely that Wyatt won’t leave the PPV with Raw’s championship, considering he’s a SmackDown Superstar. Putting a long term finish on something for a short term feud is not the best approach.

Is it it a call from FOX to end the Fun House skits? Okay, now that’s a pickle and if that’s the case, WWE can’t fight that. But outside of that, I feel like ending this skits now when there’s opportunity to use it to bring in a new audience is just bad timing. If anything, they need to put off axing it for just a little while longer, see if it helps grow their audience, and then give it the ax. But right now, I see more downsides to ending it now than positives.
