Brian Cage (c) vs. Sami Callihan – World Heavyweight Championship

The World Championship match between the champion Brian Cage and the challenger Sami Callihan has quickly gotten personal, chaotic, and very violent. After Callihan had become the number one contender by defeating Tessa Blanchard at the Unbreakable PPV, he then went on to accidentally smash a bottle over the face of Melissa Santos on the night of her and Brian Cage’s wedding.

What happened there was an accident (so Callihan said), but last week, Callihan made his intentions very clear when he hit Santos with a piledriver right in front of her husband. Cage is going to be gunning for blood in tonight’s title match, and I think Callihan’s mind games will work in his favor. I can see Cage getting so enraged that he neglects going for the pin several times when he has the opportunity to win the whole thing. Eventually, he’ll make a costly mistake that Callihan will take advantage of and win the title.

On top of just a shocking win, I think long term, you have a great, heel champion who can progress his feud with Cage (likely in No DQ rematches) as well as create compelling feuds with countless other members of the roster. I feel like after a long reign, ideally one that lasts until next year’s BFG, Callihan rounds out his trilogy with Tessa Blanchard and eventually gets beaten by the first ever woman to win the World Title.

That last paragraph could be a long shot and may come off as unrealistic fantasy booking on my part, but however this reign turns out, I feel like Callihan wins this one.
