11. Enzo Amore

Ok, let’s just get this out of the way. Enzo Amore was the worst champion by far. Yes, he became the second two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion, which he held for a cumulative reign of 108 days. However, the title and 205 Live were both at their lowest point after he defeated Neville at No Mercy 2017.

The idea was probably that Amore would bring more attention to the show, and by extension lesser-known wrestlers. Instead, it was a weak way to end Neville’s time at the top of the division, which ultimately led to his exit from the company.

Even more, Enzo paled in comparison to the rest of the wrestlers on the show. As noted, the title is meant to elevate a different style of wrestling. So, Amore essentially stripped away what made the championship matches feel special.

10. Kalisto

Kalisto wasn’t a bad champion, in theory. Surprisingly, he’s the first luchador to hold the time, which is really a shame when you consider how good his stablemates are.

Kalisto could’ve made a strong champion, but for whatever reason, he was used as a prop to get heat on the reigning champion.

Unfortunately, the leader of The Lucha House Party was champion for only 12 days after he beat Enzo on the Oct. 9, 2017 episode of Raw. Amore regained the title at TLC.

9. Akira Tozawa.

This one kind of hurts. Akira Tozawa had so much momentum heading into SummerSlam 2017. Sadly, he suffered a similar fate as our last entry, Kalisto.

WWE randomly booked him in a title match on the go-home episode of Raw on Aug. 14, 2017. In a stunning twist, Tozawa ended Neville’s record-breaking reign to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Then, in an even more confusing decision, “The King of the Cruiserweights” regained the title less than a week later in a rematch at the pay-per-view. The only reason Tozawa ranks higher than Kalisto is that we at least got some good matches out of his feud with Neville. Also, Titus Worldwide’s celebration after he won made it all worth it.
