AEW Dynamite: Results, Highlights, and Grades for October 23, 2019

A hype video aired for Wardlow. We need more of this stuff.

Speaking of hype videos, the hype video from AEW Dark aired for the Dark Order. Excellent.

SoCal Uncensored (Scorpio Sky & Frankie Kazarian) (4-3) vs. The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) (3-0) – Semi-Final Match in the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament

Tony Schiavone pointe out that Sky and Kazarian have only teamed together alone 14 times in the last two years, while Daniels and Kaz teamed together since 2012. Excellent point that helps tell the story of the match. Kazarian started the match with Stu Grayson and Kazarian quickly had an armbar on, but Grayson made the ropes and Evil Uno cut him off with a punch. Kazarian was able to drop Uno with a clothesline and tagged out to Sky.

Sky hit a dropkick and got a two count. Grayson went for a back-body drop, but Sky hit a double stomp to his back. Excalibur hinted at the story of The Dark Order a bit here, and it was actually interesting. He said they were considered one of the top tag teams in the world 6 years ago, and they just vanished. Since then they have developed a cult like following with the creepers. It sounds like they have a story to tell there.

Kaz hit an elevated corner dropkick for a 2 count. Grayson hit a pele kick on Sky and Sky fell to the outside while Evil Uno drove him into the stairs at ringside. Evil Uno pulled on Sky’s feet to drop him on the apron and Grayson hit a flipping senton over the top rope onto Sky. Uno hit a seton atomico on Sky for a 2 count.

The Inner Circle entered the area flashing tickets, indicating that while they weren’t scheduled for the show, they were entitled to be there. Sky hit a neckbreaker on Evil Uno and tagged out to Kaz who started making his comeback. This didn’t last long though as Evil Uno was able to hit a powerbomb on Kaz for a near fall.

Sky and Kaz hit double cutters and double dragon sleepers on both men, but The Dark Order escaped. Grayson hit an uppercut in the corner on Sky but as Sky chased him back to the other corner, Grayson flew over the corner with a tope con giro onto Kaz! Evil Uno hit a flatliner on Sky for a 2 count!

Grayson called for the Fatality, but Sky fought out and Grayson rolled towards the other corner where Kaz hit a slingshot DDT on Grayson and then on Evil Uno on the apron! Sky flung Grayson into a knee by Kazarian! SCU Later! SCU wins!

Result: SoCal Uncensored (5-3)
