AEW Dynamite: Results, Highlights, and Grades for October 23, 2019

AEW listened to criticism and showed clips from Omega/Janela on AEW Dark and Janela/Moxley from Fyter Fest.

Joey Janela (1-3) vs. Kenny Omega (3-3)

Omega and Janela exchanged some chain wrestling here that ended up with Janela on the apron. Janela went for a shoulder block on Omega, but Omega kicked him in the chest and then hit a plancha to the floor. Omega beat on Omega in the corner and hit a hard chop. Janela dodged a corner charge and hit two uppercuts.

Janela chopped Omega twice and was sent off the middle turnbuckle, but he countered Omega and hit a dropkick that took Omega to the floor before hitting a high crossbody from the top rope to the floor. Omega hit the ropes and hit Rise of the Terminator on Janela during the break, and The Inner Circle was looking on, unimpressed, from the VIP area.

Omega hit a dropkick to the back of Janela for a 2 count. Omega locked on a wrist lock and hit hard chops. Omega went for You Can’t Escape, but Janela got the knees up. Unfortunately for him Omega managed to cut him off and hit two snap dragon suplexes. Omega went for a third, but Janela fought out with a back elbow and hit a German suplex into the corner on Omega.

Omega managed to hit another snap dragon and a V-Trigger, but Janela came back wit ha German suplex of his own. Omega responded with a chop. Janela hit a Fisherman’s Buster and both men were down. Janela hit a huge lariat and Omega was left on the apron. Janela went for a flip off the top rope, and Janela crashed into the apron.

Omega rolled back into the ring and hit a V-Trigger that destroyed Janela. Omega picked Janela up and hit One Winged Angel for the pinfall!

Result: Kenny Omega (4-3)

Cody came out for an interview to a massive pop from the crowd. Jericho and the Inner Circle kept using air horns whenever Cody tried to talk, and it kept cutting him off. He said he had a huge announcement to make, and Jericho grabbed a mic and started booing. Cody said he could step out of the ring and walk into the VIP area to fight right now.

Jericho called Cody a coward and told him that it was 4 on 1. Dustin came out and Jericho said it was still 4 on 2, so MJF came out. Jericho said it was 4 on 3, so Diamond Dallas Page came out! DDP, Dustin, MJF, and Cody all walked up to where the Inner Circle was and they ran off.

MJF wrapped his scarf around Cody’s hand and Cody punched the window out of the door and they started brawling! Security pulled them a part, and Jericho pulled out his ticket and claimed that he was allowed to be there. Jericho looked on the verge of tears. This was absolutely fantastic.
