The New Day (Kofi and E) vs. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

Just Big E and Kofi Kingston walk down the ramp, but an injured Xavier Woods is there with them in spirit. And on Big E’s tablet.

Dolph and Kofi lock up, as they did so many times for the WWE Championship this past summer. *Sigh.* Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Anyway, Dolph takes Kofi down with a shoulder block. Run the ropes a bit until Kofi leapfrogs into a reverse elbow. Kofi hits the top rope, but gets knocked down by an intervening Roode on the apron. Kofi down and the babyfaces on top send us to a commercial break.

Back from the break, as B Team watch from backstage on a monitor, The New Day attempt a comeback spot (which includes a bevy of belly to bellys from Big E, and a dive from Kofi) only for Dolph to get a sneaky School Boy pin for the win. Yes, it happened that fast when they came back from the break.

After the match, SmackDown Champs The Revival (who defend their titles next Friday vs. The New Day) attack Big E and Kofi. Roode and Dolph storm in to help. Heavy Machinery run down to even the odds and run the heels out of town. Babyfaces stand tall.

Winners: Dolph and Roode

Grade: D+

It’s a shame how short this one was. It’s a different match-up (first time ever, I think) so I was really looking forward to it. Not sure why they rushed through this one so fast. I feel like they have done that a few times with tag team matches already since SmackDown came to FOX. Not sure what the deal was there, but this felt like a missed opportunity. Had potential, but it was over just as fast as it started.

Also, it’s odd to me that Dolph kind of struggled to get the win over Kofi in 20-30 minute matches during the summer across back to back PPVs, but gets a roll-up win over Kofi in about five minutes in a random tag match. Wrestling is weird sometimes. Who am I kidding? Wrestling is weird all the time.

Anyway, afterwards, we get a video package for Braun Strowman vs. Tyson Fury, which reveals Braun attacked Fury during his training at the Performance Center.
