WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights and Grades for Oct. 25
At the top of the second hour, Daniel Bryan is interviewed by Michael Cole in the ring, who asks Bryan if he’s bringing back the Yes Movement.
Before he could answer, the man he pinned last week (Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura) alongside Sami Zayn hit the ramp. Zayn says Naka holds no hard feelings about the loss to Bryan, and actually respects it. However, Zayn shows footage of Bryan saying the old Daniel Bryan was dead and so is the Yes Movement (promo from November 2018).
Zayn says that “The New” Daniel Bryan was always the real Daniel Bryan. He’s an honorable environmental who these “disgusting people who just consume and consume” don’t even care about. Zayn says Bryan is too good for these people, but he has a lot in common with Naka and Zayn; the latter being a fellow vegan like Bryan. Nakamura, like Bryan, also cares about the ocean and the rest of the planet.
Zayn feels like all three of these “artists” could do magic as a unit. Rather than restart the Yes Movement, Zayn thinks Bryan should move forward by joining them as a trio and make the world a better place.
Zayn offers his hand for a shake. Bryan contemplates it, looks around, and instead walks away, brushing passed both men. It’s unclear if Bryan has denied both men, or if he needs more time to mull it over.
Grade: A
Such a great, well played segment. Great tease as well, made all the better by the performances of all men involved, especially Bryan who played up the crowd so well in teasing whether he’d shake his hand or not.
Overall, this segment told a story and setting up an entire program. Whether Bryan eventually sides with Naka or feuds vs. him and Zayn, I’m engaged and interested; great way to set it all up.
