AEW Dynamite featured the contract signing between Cody and Chris Jericho and the finals of the AEW World Tag Team Tournament between the Lucha Bros & SCU!

In what promises to be an exciting episode tonight, AEW goes into full gear (pun intended) as they head towards AEW Full Gear. Tonight, we saw the contract signing with Cody Rhodes and Chris Jericho and the finals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament, and a whole lot more. Read on to find out what!

The show opened with Tony Schiavone at the airport with Cody and Dustin Rhodes. Tony walked Cody to his limo, and Cody seemed very nervous about the contract signing. This is the big one, and it’s not just another match, as this one is for the AEW World Championship.

A video aired of what happened with Moxley and Omega last week, and Moxley stormed backstage to Tony Kahn’s office where he found out the match between him and Kenny Omega was a lights out, unsanctioned match. Mox yelled that “You don’t want your boy to lose. So, it doesn’t count, right?” And then he told Tony Khan that what happened to Omega was on his head.

Sammy Guevara (2-2) vs. Hangman Page (3-3)

Hangman and Sammy locked up as JR and Excalibur talked about Hangman needing to find his voice, which I think is a great thing, meaning that they’re definitely going to focus on his character development. Hangman dropped Sammy with a kick and then hit a vertical suplex for a two count. Sammy hit a suplex of his own, and Hangman kicked out.

Hangman slapped Sammy, but Sammy suckered him in and kicked him in the face. Sammy flew off the top rope with a cross body, but Hangman caught him and hit a fall away slam and then clotheslined Sammy over the top rope to the floor. Sammy pulled Hangman off the apron and as he fell, his back hit the apron. Sammy sent Hangman into the guardrail.

Back in the ring, Sammy hit a forearm and went for a squat with a fireman’s carry, mocking Page. Sammy went to the top rope, jumped off, and slapped page in the face. Hangman was not happy and he chopped the crap out of Sammy. Sammy avoided several clotheslines, and flipped backwards to avoid one before superkicking Hangman Page. Hangman spun around with a lariat and dropped Sammy and both men were down.

Hangman hit a clothesline in the corner, a big boot, and a back suplex. Page went for a dead eye on the apron, but Sammy fought out, charged at Hangman, but Hangman caught him and hit a big sidewalk slam on the apron. Hangman powerbombed Sammy in the middle of the ring but only got a two count.

Page hit a moonsault from the top rope to the floor on Sammy, and the crowd went nuts. Page got setup for the Buckshot Lariat, but Sammy dodged and hit a knee on Page. Page hit a disqus forearm that sent Sammy to the ropes. Page charged, but Sammy ducked and sent Page to the apron. Page flew back over the top rope with a Buckshot Lariat for the win!

Result: Hangman Page (4-3)

Rating: ***1/4 (3.25 stars)

Excellent opening match. Hangman grabbed a mic and talked about how things weren’t going well for him lately, but tonight he felt good and that at Full Gear he was going to do some “Cowboy s***” and take PAC’s head off. That was excellent.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express arrived, and Private Party met them in the back to welcome them.
