The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express came out holding the AEW World Tag Team Championships as they are going to present it to the winners of the finals. Both men played the crowd so well. Ricky and Robert were attacked by Santana & Ortiz and they started to beat them down! They beat the crap out of them with a loaded sock and Santana and Ortiz posed with the tag titles. They then picked up Ricky Morton and powerbombed him through a part of the stage!

The Young Bucks came out to check on them. This was a killer angle. A legion of referees helped the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to the back.

Tony Schiavone was with Cody, and he said he thought Cody was going to be a lot more nervous. This limo ride reminded me of Ric Flair’s limo ride at Starrcade 1993. Cody and Tony shared stories about Dusty. This felt so genuine. It was SO good. Cody talked about his mom coming to the show, and he thought about how many shows she saw with his dad, but he wanted to impress her and to live up to what Dusty did.

He said Jericho is the best he’s ever been, but this is his time. Tony said emotion was good and Cody should take all the years that his father was in the ring, and the emotion of his mother in the front row and use it to fight Jericho. This was phenomenal.

QT Marshall (0-1) & Alex Reynolds & John Silver (0-0) vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent Bereta, & Orange Cassidy) (0-0)

Rick and Morty introduced The Best Friends, which was amusing. The Best Friends were dressed up as Rick and Morty with Trent as Morty and Chuck and Cassidy both as Rick. Trent lost his wig and immediately put it back on, which was funny. Silver stole Trent’s wig and the crowd booed. Silver, Marshall, & Reynolds all went for a clothesline in the corner on Trent.

Trent dodged the last one and hit a tornado DDT. Trent tagged out to Chuck and Chuck hit the sliced bread on QT. The Best Friends tried to hug, but QT Marshall cut them off to huge boos from the crowd. Orange Cassidy came in and kicked the shins of QT. QT went for a clothesline, but Orange Cassidy rolled under it and hit a dropkick and then a tope onto Reynolds and QT on the floor. The Best Friends hugged and then hit Strong Zero on Silver for the pinfall.

Result: The Best Friends (1-0 in trios)

Rating: **1/2 (2.5 stars)

This was nothing spectacular, but it was a lot of fun.

Chris Jericho came out for the contract signing to a huge pop from the crowd. Cody arrived with Tony Schiavone and both men came out for the signing. Tony introduced both men and the stipulations of the match where it will go to a panel of 3 judges if it goes 60 minutes. Cody signed the contract first.

Jericho looked at Cody with hatred and contempt and then jumped up like he was going to attack. Jericho laughed and said he got him. The crowd chanted that Jericho sucked, but Jericho said he wasn’t the one who sucked, Schiavone was. Jericho said this was the biggest match of Cody’s career and if he won he would become what he always wanted to be: the world Champion.

But if Cody lost, Jericho said that it might mean that Cody wasn’t as good as he thought he was. Jericho said he was going to teach Cody a lesson about what it was like to be a loser and signed the contract. Jericho and Cody both stood up and Schiavone and the lawyer went to the side. Jericho told the crowd to “calm down, hillbillies” and they chanted various things at Jericho.

Jericho said that both of them didn’t make a mockery out of the match and that they were both professionals. He offered Cody a handshake, and Cody shook it. Jericho went to leave, and Cody held on and pulled him back. Jericho and Cody exchanged words that we couldn’t hear. Jericho said, “We could stand here all night, but you might be needed elsewhere.”

Jake Hager was attacking Dustin Rhodes backstage and he hit Dustin with a low blow, just like in his Bellator fight! Hager kneed Dustin’s head into the car and then slammed the car door on Dustin’s arm! Cody and MJF ran in and security pulled the Inner Circle away from Dustin as Jericho lit a cigar and then got into a car and drove away. Dustin was practically in tears as Cody cradled him by his head.

MJF and Cody helped him up and brought him to the medics.
