We start with a recap of last week’s episode, particularly Eli Drake coaxing Tim Storm out of retirement and the Drake/Storm vs. Dawsons tag team main event set to some somber music, before transitioning into the “Into the Fire” intro vid.

Joe Galli and Jim Cornette welcome us to the show. As they start to run through the show’s lineup, NWA National Champion James Storm interrupted them. Storm griped about having to prove himself week after week, noting that his career resume spoke for itself. He then wanted to know why Nick Aldis was ducking him for a title shot and why Colt Cabana, who he’s already beaten, wants to “jump on the bandwagon”.

This drew out Cabana, who said that the National Title around Storm’s shoulder was “rightfully” his. He then said that his “bum leg” was healed, but before he could challenge Storm to a match, Eli Drake slinked onto the set.

Drake said that “a lot of people” wanted a shot at Storms belt and seemed to intimate that if he got too distracted by his pursuit of the World Title, he could lose the belt to Cabana. Apparently, that was enough to summon Aldis to the podium.

Once Drake finished campaigning for Storm to get a title shot, Aldis took a couple of verbal jabs at Storm and Drake before challenging Storm to a six-man tag team match. If Aldis’ team wins, Colt Cabana gets a shot at the National Championship. If Storm’s team wins, Storm gets his World Title shot, but he has to vacate the National Title to get it. Storm accepted, implied that he crushed Aldis’ car with his truck and left.

My thoughts: This was very good. Everyone played their roles well and it set up a fascinating match with some intriguing stakes that puts over the World Title as the top prize and elevates the National Title.
