NWA Powerrr Episode 4: Results, Grades, and Highlights
Aron Stevens/Ricky Starks confrontation
We get another Thunder Rosa hype video before throwing back to Joe Galli, who introduced Aron Stevens. Galli reminded the audience of the “no eye contact” deal before asking Stevens when he planned on wrestling.
Stevens responded by reiterating that the NWA has “stars” (him) and “supporting cast” (everyone else) and asked the audience what the name of his “new movie” was. As the fans murmured various answers, Ricky Starks crashed the proceedings.
Galli asked why Starks was on set, which drew a quick retort from Stevens saying that Starks was there to be Stevens’ “stunt double”. “On the contrary, my friend,” Starks retorted before placing his hand out as though he wanted Stevens to kiss it. He held it out for a few seconds before he kissed it himself.
Stevens said that Starks looked ridiculous, which was enough for Starks to slap Stevens in the face and send him scurrying to the announcer’s booth. Starks told Stevens that he talked too much and left as Stevens stared off in shock.
My thoughts: Looks like we’re getting a Stevens/Starks match soon. Stevens wasn’t as good here as he was in his first two appearances, but he still stood out with his retreat away from Starks and facial expressions.
We then got a video recounting the issues between Eddie Kingston & Homicide and The Dawsons, which set up the No DQ match coming up next while showing why Kingston is one of the best promos in the business.
After a parody Austin Idol cocktail commercial and a hype video for the Rock n’ Roll Express, we go to the ring for our next match.
