Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship on the first episode of SmackDown on FOX, and less than a month later, he has decided to quit the Blue Brand.
It looks like WWE’s red title is moving to SmackDown, while the WWE Championship is headed to the Blue Brand.
After Bray Wyatt won the Universal Championship off of Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel (to spare my editor some extra editing, I did not use the Spongebob font), SmackDown seemed headed to have two championships.
Not so fast. You really thought the USA Network would let that happen after years of hosting and underadvertising WWE’s weekly programming?
On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Brock Lesnar opened the show with Paul Heyman, as he was one of the few people in WWE privileged enough to catch the extra fancy flight out of Saudi Arabia.
Anyway, Lesnar had a big announcement for the WWE Universe. He’s quitting SmackDown. And since he beat Kofi Kingston in seconds to begin October on the Blue Brand’s FOX debut, it’s safe to say we wish he was never a part of SmackDown in the first place.
But now he’s the WWE Champion and headed back to Raw. Fun, fun fun!
What did WWE fans think about it? The typical mix of humor and anguish, though, let’s be honest, this is way better than having both titles on the two-hour show.
Lesnar "quits" Smackdown to join Raw?

While the Fiend takes the Universal Title to Smackdown?
That's one way to fix your world champion dilemma on each show.
Nikki Cross vs. Bayley is what truly matters here, but the NXT bosses invading? I’ll allow that, too.

Good point. They need to keep Wyatt and Rollins separated now.
Well that answers that.

The WWE and Universal championships trade shows.
I've been told a few times that Brock Lesnar isn't necessarily a Smackdown superstar. Looks like he has brand split immunity.#WWE #Smackdown
Lesnar has the immunity that Shawn Spencer thought diplomats have. (Please tell me enough of you watch the USA Network’s non-WWE shows and got that reference.)
Would have made a lot more sense to have The Fiend beat Kofi and never have Lesnar lose the title at Summerslam the way things look now

Exactly. One thousand percent this. Sean Ross Sapp is wrestling’s voice of reason.
I’m taking a moment to appreciate the irony that is Brock Lesnar on TV, whilst the rest of the roster aren’t. #SmackDown

Money gives people certain privileges, let’s just put it that way.
Anyway, WWE’s decision to have Lesnar quit SmackDown actually makes sense in the context of Wyatt’s win, but it’s puzzling when considering the LARGER context of Kofi’s loss, the draft fiasco, and the fact that Lesnar had only been on SmackDown for about a month.
Oh well, at least we’re having fun with it. Remember kids (read: adults), it’s OK not to take wrestling too seriously.
