Pete Dunne versus Damian Priest

Up next was a rematch between two of NXT’s brightest stars in Damian Priest and Pete Dunne.

I’m a big fan of both Priest and Dunne, so I welcomed this renewing of hostilities between the two with open arms.

Before we get into the match itself though, I do want to get something off my chest. What does Damian Priest’s nickname mean exactly? I know he’s “The Archer of Infamy,” but what does that tell fans? Is he like some sort of evil Green Arrow character, or is he infamous because he’s not that good with a bow? Maybe he just goes around and shoots infamous…things?

These are the kinds of questions I ask myself on stormy days while staring dramatically out of a window.

Anyways, back to the match. Priest jumped out to an early lead so to speak, and started taking it to Dunne. “The Bruiserweight” eventually rallied though to make it into a real competitive affair, by lighting up Priest with some vicious chops and a moonsault to the outside of the ring.

In fact, Dunne showed off some impressive offense throughout this match, especially on a superstar with such a height advantage. He even unleashed a pretty great sit-out powerbomb at one point that got me out of my seat a bit.

After a series of counters, Dunne and Priest both wound up laid out in the center of the ring.

Eventually, Pete Dunne would get the upper hand on Priest by literally ripping his hand up after using a sneaky low blow.

Result: Pete Dunne wins via submission

In the end, I’m happy with the 50/50 booking here after a solid match. Both superstars could use some solid wins, and the questionable finishes clearly have set up a rubber match down the road.

Speaking of that rematch, it looks like Killian Dain will likely be involved in that match after he took the ring once the bell rang, and laid out both Dunne and Priest.

Hey, I’m all for more Killian Dain, so sign me up
