Impact Wrestling Turning Point 2019: Full card preview and predictions
Sami Callihan (c) vs. Brian Cage – Impact World Championship
As mentioned earlier in the intro, Sami Callihan will renew the latest chapter of his feud against Brian Cage in the main event of tonight’s Turning Point, only this time, Callihan has the title in his grasp. Of course, Callihan failed to defeat Cage in a No DQ match in the main event of Bound for Glory a few weeks back, but shortly after, Callihan had the upper hand inside of a steel cage on the first episode of Impact Wrestling on AXS TV.
Now, both men will engage once again for a tie-breaker in their bitter blood feud. Interestingly enough, tonight’s match does not have a stipulation attached to it. But truth be told, stip or no stip, I think this match ends the same way it began: with Callihan having the championship in his grasp.
Since defeating Cage for the title, it seems like Callihan has already moved on to new storylines with the likes of Tessa Blanchard and Tommy Dreamer. Meanwhile, Cage has been nowhere to be found. An argument can be made that Cage was absent from the second episode of Impact on AXS TV to sell the brutality of his cage match, but I think it’s simply a case of Callihan having new challengers in his horizon.
As he puts Cage in his rear view mirror, I think that much like is the case with Jake Crist’s title match, giving The Machine his rematch is only happening to tie up some loose ends and put a bow on this feud once and for all. Expect Callihan to retain.
Prediction: Sami Callihan
