Seth Rollins vs. Andrade (with Zelina Vega)
Next up, Seth Rollins was in action against Andrade with his spot on Team Raw at WWE Survivor Series on the line. Zelina Vega had a microphone in hand as they made their way down the ramp, taking her time to explain that Andrade is “the greatest in-ring technician on the face of the planet.”
Things got off to a brisk start with lots of fluidity and counters from each superstar. That theme continued throughout, and they set the tone early with several sequences landing both men at a stalemate once again.
After more than one sequence going that way, Andrade finally started to build some momentum with a dropkick and some chops in the corner. He went for another dropkick, but Seth dodged it and nailed a dropkick of his own. Rollins followed it with several chops and a running forearm smash in the corner.
Vega grabbed Seth’s ankle to cause a distraction, which allowed Andrade to strike Seth and send him off the apron to the floor. Zelina Vega tried to follow it by leaping off the apron for a hurricanrana, but Rollins caught and tossed Vega off. Unfortunately, the referee also saw this and ejected Vega from ringside.
After a commercial break, Seth Rollins built some momentum with two consecutive suicide dives and a springboard knee that earned him a near fall. Rollins went for the stomp but missed. He hit an enziguri and went for a buckle bomb, but Andrade countered and hit a hurricanrana that sent Rollins into the corner turnbuckle.
Andrade follows it with running double knees to a seated Seth Rollins. It was enough for a near fall, and Andrade tried to capitalize with his Hammerlock DDT but Rollins blocked it. Seth deadlifted Andrade into position to hit the buckle bomb and a superkick moments later, but Andrade grabbed the bottom rope to stop the pinfall.
Both men were trading forearms moments later, only for Rollins to build some momentum with a knee and a spinning chop. He went for the Falcon Arrow, but Andrade slipped out and hit a stiff elbow that gave him an opening to go for Three Amigos. All three suplexes were nailed with precision, and they earned Andrade another near fall.
Andrade went to the top rope, and Rollins tried to climb up and hit a sudden superplex. Andrade countered, knocking Seth into position for a diving stomp, but Rollins ducked out of the way to avoid the stomp. Rollins slides to the apron, going for another springboard knee that also misses.
Rollins was able to hit a Falcon Arrow for a near fall before climbing to the top rope, only to be attacked by Kalisto of Lucha House Party. Kalisto, Gran Metalik, and Lince Dorado all showed up wearing SmackDown shirts and attacked Rollins at ringside, which also gave Rollins the disqualification victory and cost Andrade his chance at earning a spot on Team Raw.
Lucha House Party slid into the ring and attacked Andrade as well, but Rollins slid in and was able to fight them off with Andrade and send those three SmackDown stars packing. Rollins and Andrade exchanged a few words in the ring with Rollins showing respect to Andrade’s performance.
Grade: B, Without the garbage finish, this could’ve been an A+ match. Truly amazing work by Andrade and Seth Rollins. So fluid, such great counters, all to get attacked by the D-Squad from SmackDown. Technically they cost Andrade a spot on Team Raw, but that didn’t seem to play any role in their strategy. This was such a disappointing and illogical finish to an amazing match.
