AEW Dynamite featured several big matches this week, with Rey Fenix taking on Nick Jackson and Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley.

AEW got off to a quick start, with Rey Fenix and Nick Jackson are looking to tear the house down from the very start of the show.

Nick Jackson (0-0 in singles) vs. Rey Fenix (0-0 in singles)

The crowd was incredibly hot before the wrestlers even did anything, chanting and cheering when Nick Jackson looked at them. Nick hit a shoulder tackle, but Fenix hit a dropkick. Both men exchanged an incredible amount of attack attempts but were unable to get any advantage. Fenix and Nick exchanged chops and sent Fenix to the ropes, but Fenix hit a handspring headbutt and then a springboard headbutt.

Fenix hit a flying armdrag on Nick that sent him to the floor. Nick Jackson came back in and hit a kick to the head and tried to run up the ropes to do a flip dive to the floor, but Fenix dodged, and Nick rolled through and landed on his feet. Fenix did a forward roll and hit a cutter on Nick. Fenix sent Nick into the ring and then crushed him with a senton bomb for a 2 count.

Nick dodged a running kick as Fenix ran across the top rope and hit a flying knee in the corner, a kick to the face, and a bulldog, before kicking Fenix in the head again. Both men went for a superkick and hit each other in the leg with Nick selling his shin as he kicked the ring post at AEW Full Gear, and as Proud n’ Powerful attacked the leg last week.

Nick and Fenix tried to do springboards while holding each other’s hands, but Nick was able to fly off the rope and hurricanrana Fenix from the top rope after a springboard. Both men exchanged strike attempts again, ending with Fenix killing Nick with a superkick. Nick hit one of his own, but Fenix responded again and Nick crashed to the mat and both men were down.

Nick ended up on the apron, so Fenix walked across the ropes and hit a hurricanrana off the apron to the floor. Nick Jackson hit a series of kicks and stomps, but Fenix was able to hit a cutter for a 2 count. Fenix and Nick ended up on the apron and both exchanged big boots, but Nick hit a roundhouse kick and then a deadlift German suplex on the apron!

Nick Jackson hit a slingshot X-factor and then a slingshot Canadian Destroyer for a 2 count. As Fenix kicked out, Nick immediately grabbed his legs and went for the Sharpshooter. Fenix managed to crawl to the ropes and get the break. Fenix and Nick exchanged some pinfall attempts, and Fenix responded with a superkick, a springboard spin kick, and a Dark Fenix Driver for a 3 count.

Result: Rey Fenix (1-0)

Rating: ****3/4 (4.75 stars)

My goodness, this match was incredible. After the match, Nick Jackson offered a handshake, but Fenix refused and left the ring to boos. Friends, go out of your way to watch this match. AEW knew they would have a great match with these two, so AEW gave them a lot of time and let them run wild. This was a fantastic match.
