Adam Cole (c) vs. Pete Dunne [NXT Championship]

Pete Dunne immediately goes for the fingers of Adam Cole. Adam Cole gets out of the submission holds and paces the ring. Unfortunately, he ran into a clothesline by Pete Dunne. Pete Dunne then revisits Adam Cole’s fingers. Pete Dunne then takes Cole to the outside and stomps on his elbow on top of the steel steps.

Dunne goes for the cover but Cole kicks out and targets Dunne’s injured left leg. He stomps on Dunn’s left leg multiple times and hits a neckbreaker. Cole continues targeting the injured leg but Dunne counters with a explex in the middle of the ring. Dunne then rallies and hits an enziguiri in the corner as well as a powerbomb in the middle of the ring for the two-count.

Cole rolls out of the ring and Dunne goes on the top rope to deliver an incredible moonsault to Cole outside the ring. Both men gets back into the ring. Cole gets some control early on, but Dunne counters with a kick to the back of Cole’s head. Dunne goes on the top rope to attempt another moonsault. Cole put his knees up and quickly runs in for the Last Shot on Dunne, but the resilient Dunne kicks out at two.

Cole attempts the Panama Sunrise, but Dunne counters. Cole still caught Dunne for an Ushigoroshi to the back of the neck. Adam Cole attempts the Last Shot again but Dunne counters with an Arm Bar. Cole gets out of the Arm Bar, and Dunne continues the pressure with a picture perfect Bitter End. He goes for the pin, but Cole kicks out at two.

Both men get up. Dunne and Cole share enzuiguris with each other. Dunne gets the advantage and backflips off the top rope but Cole counters with a superkick in mid air. Cole goes for the pin, but Dunne kicks out. THIS IS AWESOME!

Cole goes on the top rope but flies into a swift forearm by Dunne. Dunne then executes a powerbomb on Cole for the two-count. Cole rolls out of the ring. Dunne chases after Cole, but Cole targets the injured leg again. Dunne continues to sell the leg and cannot lift up Cole on the apron. Cole goes on the top rope and hits the Panama Sunrise on Dunne on the edge of the apron.

Dunne makes it back into the ring before the ten-count but runs into a superkick by Cole. Cole goes for the pin, but Dunne kicks out. Dunne reaches for his mouth guard. Cole stops Dunne from getting it. Dunne grabs Cole’s fingers and cracks them apart. Dunne then attempts the Bitter End, but Cole counters with the Panama Sunrise and Last Shot for the amazing retention. And that is undisputed.

Result: Still NXT Champion Adam Cole

Analysis: Although many knew Adam Cole would retain the NXT Championship, very few probably knew that this could be the potential show stealer on a stacked card. The in-ring psychology in this match was off the charts and kudos to these two for going to war at NXT Takeover and still pulling out a stellar match the following night at Survivor Series.
