WWE Survivor Series 2019: Results, Highlights and Grades

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Rey Mysterio [WWE Championship]

Will this match end in less than ten seconds? Hopefully not. As Paul Heyman said earlier in the pre show, this match will be a matter of Massacre vs. Miracle. The match is underway.

Rey Mysterio immediately grabs his lead pipe. However, Lesnar still manages to take down Mysterio with a swift clothesline. He then tosses Mysterio out of the ring and into the Spanish announce table. He then lifts Mysterio up and delivers a belly to belly suplex to Mysterio on the table cover. He puts the table cover on top of Mysterio and stomps on Mysterio’s back. He then pushes Mysterio into the steel post and takes the time to tie his boots. The disrespect.

Lesnar picks Mysterio up again to send him into the steel post, but Mysterio counters and pushes Lesnar into the steel post. Mysterio aims to grab the steel pipe in the ring, but Lesnar stops Mysterio from getting the pipe and delivers a German Suplex. Suplex City has commenced.

As soon as Lesnar hits another German Suplex onto Mysterio, he grabs the steel pipe. Dominick then enters the ring out of nowhere to distract Lesnar. When Lesnar grabs Dominik, Mysterio hits a low blow to Lesnar. Dominick also hits a low blow to Lesnar. Mysterio grabs the steel pipe and Dominick grabs a steel chair. They both hit Lesnar in the back with their weapons.

Lesnar is on the rope and both Mysterio and Dominick dial it up for a Double 619. They hit it and the crowd pops for the father and son. Dominick hits a picture perfect splash to Lesnar and Mysterio does the same for the pinfall. They both cover Lesnar. Unfortunately, it was a two-count.

Both Mysterio and Dominik go on the top rope. Lesnar quickly gets up and grabs Dominick for a German Suplex. Rey Mysterio then flies onto Lesnar, who catches him for the F-5 and the three-count. Brock Lesnar retains the WWE Championship.

Analysis: This championship match was perfectly executed. This match was implemented in a way to to get the crowd on the Mysterio’s side, which was necessary considering that most didn’t think he would even win this match. The inclusion of Dominick in this match was heartwarming, and he did an amazing job at delivering his father’s maneuvers. This is definitely one of Brock’s best championship matches.
