2. Randy Orton
In one of the most memorable moments of the decade in WWE, Randy Orton versus Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam 2016 was an absolutely brutal bout that clearly warranted a rematch.
Sadly, a majority of fans never got to see that sequel.
Lesnar and Orton would square off again in a highly entertaining house show match in Chicago in what would be considered the follow-up to their SummerSlam showdown.
Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be able to see both matches myself, and I can say with a level of certainty that this is a feud that could, and likely should, be renewed at some point down the road in WWE.
That makes Randy Orton a fine challenger for Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble this year.
With an obvious history to draw upon to set-up their rematch, this could easily be the perfect placeholder feud WWE needs for Lesnar before he moves on to a bigger challenger on the build to WrestleMania.
Orton will always be a legitimate threat to any champion, and the extreme tone their feud has taken in the past would be a perfect canvas for him to really tap into the most entertaining side of his “Viper” persona as well.
There’s a lot to like about the potential for a trilogy between Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar. Don’t rule out “The Viper” being the next opponent to strike the reigning WWE Champion on the road to Royal Rumble.
