AJ Styles (c) vs. Rey Mysterio [United States Championship]

With Rey Mysterio not being at one hundred percent, this should be an easy victory for AJ Styles. But it is never smart to count out Rey Mysterio. AJ Styles takes full control early on in the match with ground-based attacks to Mysterio. He hits a picture perfect suplex to Mysterio.

Mysterio tries to fight back but Styles traps Mysterio in a tree of woe at the corner turnbuckle and hits a basement dropkick to Mysterio in his gut. Styles then locks Mysterio in a chin lock. Mysterio tries to fight back but Styles slams his head to the mat.

Rey Mysterio then attempts to rally back but gets his left knee caught in the ropes. Styles grabs Mysterio to hit a snake eyes onto the turnbuckle, but Mysterio counters and pushes Styles into the steel post. Mysterio then hits an Enziguiri to Styles and Styles falls onto the middle rope for a 619. Mysterio is about to dial it up but Karl Anderson trips Mysterio.

Because of this interference, the referee banned Anderson and Gallows from the ring. The show then transitions to a commercial break.

Back from commercial, Styles has Mysterio on the top rope. Mysterio counters with elbows to Styles’ head, but Styles continues his attacks on Mysterio’s back. Styles puts Mysterio in a tree of woe once again and charges at Mysterio with a basement drop kick, but Mysterio sits up and dodges Styles’ attack as Styles slides right into the steel post.

Mysterio then rallies and executes a meteora and a flying headscissors to Styles. He then punches Styles in the corner five times and executes a chicken wing bulldog to Styles for the two-count. The crowd is chanting 619 as they root for Mysterio.

Mysterio goes back on the top rope. Styles stops him and attempts a suplex. Mysterio bites Styles’ left hand, but Styles fireman carries Mysterio regardless and delivers a neckbreaker for the two-count. Styles attempts the Styles Clash but Mysterio counters with the Sunset Flip Powerbomb for the two-count.

Mysterio dials it up for the 619, but Styles was knocked right into the referee! Mysterio goes on the top rope and sees the referee is down. He quickly goes for the cover as he pleads for the referee to get back up. Despite being banned from ringside, The O.C. come back into the ring to distract Mysterio.

Randy Orton surprisingly runs to the ring to help Mysterio. Styles attempts the Phenomenal Forearm on Orton. He misses and Mysterio dials AJ Styles for the 619 into the RKO and a Frog Splash for the three-count. Rey Mysterio is the new United States Champion as he gets back the championship he relinquished months ago. He then celebrates with his son, Dominick.

Result: NEW United States Champion Rey Mysterio

Rating: 3.5/5.0 Stars

Analysis: What a show-stealer! This was an amazing form of retribution for Mysterio from losing to Lesnar last night. It was questionable why Orton helped Mysterio, but he did need to get his revenge against The O.C. for screwing him in the number one contender’s match. This was a shocking title change and an incredible match. Back from commercial, Kevin Owens then cuts a backstage promo on Seth Rollins and his condescending comments earlier in the night, calling him out for his comments and threatening to show him later why Raw is the Kevin Owens Show.
