AEW Dynamite: Results, Grades, and Analysis for December 4, 2019
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a grudge match between Pentagon Jr. & Christopher Daniels, a six man tag featuring Dustin Rhodes & the Young Bucks, Kris Statlander taking on Hikaru Shida, & Jon Moxley going to war with Joey Janela once again.
AEW will be looking to follow up on the beginnings of the Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley feud, and continues to build towards the new year, where AEW’s next PPV looms in the distance.
The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (7-4) & Dustin Rhodes (2-3) vs. Sammy Guevara (3-4) & Proud n’ Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) (4-1) (Inner Circle)
Dustin Rhodes started the match with Guevara, hitting an arm drag. Rhodes hat matching gear with the Bucks, which I thought was hilarious. There was a good triple team with Rhodes holding Sammy and Matt launching Nick into a dropkick on Sammy. Dustin and the Bucks hit a triple superkick on Sammy.
Matt Jackson climbed to the top rope and hit a crossbody to the floor on all three men. Dustin hit a cannonball off the apron while Nick ran up the ropes and hit a corkscrew moonsault to the floor. Matt Jackson hit rolling Northern Lights Suplexes on Sammy Guevara, and then hit a double one on Santana and Guevara! Ortiz came in, but Nick tried to hit one on all three, but wasn’t able to.
The Inner Circle then took advantage of this and powerbombed Matt Jackson into the corner and then started working over his back. Santana and Ortiz did their switching suplex on Matt, holding him up. Sammy tried it, but he couldn’t hold Matt up, and Matt superkicked his head off and tagged out to Dustin Rhodes.
Dustin ran wild and hit two powerslams on Santana and Ortiz. As Sammy ran at him, Dustin stopped him and pretended to be out of breath before drawing Guevara in and he hit a third powerslam. Dustin then hit a flying crossbody on all three men and hit a Canadian Destroyer on Santana! Holy crap!
Dustin then threw Ortiz and Guevara out of the ring and went for the Shattered Dreams on Santana. The ref was distracted and Ortiz hit Dustin with the slapjack.
Guevara hit the 630 splash on Dustin, but Dustin just kicked out and managed to tag Nick Jackson, who ran wild all over the ring. Nick lured Sammy into a spear by Matt Jackson, and after a double team splash and moonsault, Ortiz broke up the pinfall attempt.
Santana hit a flying flip dive on Nick Jackson while Sammy hit a dive on Matt Jackson. Dustin broke up a pinfall attempt. Guevara went for a shooting star press onto both Bucks, but the Bucks hit a massive superkick as he turned over. The Bucks and Rhodes then hit a combo senton and tombstone on all three men at the same time, and the Bucks win!
Result: The Young Bucks & Dustin Rhodes
Rating: ***3/4 (3.75 stars)
