Fans were not the only ones furious with Kofi Kingston losing his WWE Championship in 10 seconds. His own New Day partner was admittedly “irate.”

In the past, we have spoken at length about how fans, critics and even Kofi Kingston may have felt after seeing his WWE Championship reign come to such a shocking, abrupt end during the Friday Night SmackDown premiere episode on FOX back in October. The quick loss came after he held the title for six months.

Kofi – alongside his New Day buddies and fellow SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Big E and Xavier Woods – recently appeared in the newest episode of WWE’s official Network exclusive podcast, After the Bell, to finally speak in depth about how he lost the title to Brock Lesnar. While the former champion himself had no ill will to speak of, Big E felt a little more strongly about how the whole angle went down.

“Kofi Kingston is a lot more level-headed than maybe anyone else that I have met in the business because everyone else would have reacted – actually, I was irate when I found out about it and that is a testament to Kofi,” E admitted during the podcast, per WrestlingInc‘s transcription. “I’m not saying no one else in the industry, but very few people would have had that approach, but not many would have taken that approach and not have sour grapes and be able to move on.”

Big E later went on to say during the podcast that he felt as though Kofi’s title win was not only a big win for the veteran, but it “was a big win for [The New Day], too, as a stable,” which also highlights why he took Kofi’s loss to heart so strongly.

To echo Kofi’s sentiments during the podcast, the former champion just hopes that fans who felt as “irate” as Big E about the loss can stay positive and remain optimistic about their future.
