At SHINE 61, Aja Perera and Big Swole Aerial Monroe became the first Black Tag Team Champions in the promotion. Nearly three months later, Perera has a tryout with WWE.

“Big Swole” signed with AEW last month after fans clamored for the talented wrestlers to join the promotion’s growing women’s division. Aerial Monroe had been dazzling on AEW Dark, and fans know she can become a fixture on AEW Dynamite and a future champion.

Now, her tag team partner, Aja Perera, is getting an opportunity to impress another major promotion.

According to a report from Squared Circle Sirens’ Casey Michael, WWE are bringing in Perera for their tryouts, which start on Dec. 5. Michael writes that Arissa Le Brock has also been confirmed as one of the hopeful signees at the tryout.

Perera, as Bell to Belles’ Philip Lindsey wrote, joined forces with Big Swole (and manager Ayla Fox) to defeat “Rainbow Bright” to become the SHINE Tag Team Champions in September at SHINE 61. In doing so, “Triple Aye” (as they are known with Ayla) became the first Black Women’s Tag Team Champions in the belt’s five-year history.

So Perera definitely has the talent and the credibility to join WWE’s Performance Center and eventually be a key part of the NXT Women’s Division. Hopefully, all goes well at her tryout and WWE are able to see her potential.

Just 25, Perera has a bright future in professional wrestling and has already accomplished a lot since starting her career in 2013 for Platinum Championship Wrestling. In addition to being a current tag team champion in SHINE, she is also a former SHINE Nova Champion. Perera has wrestled across the globe, competing in promotions like Canadian Wrestling’s Elite and Lucha Libre Feminil.

It will be interesting to see who else WWE has brought in for a tryout this week, but Perear is definitely a name to watch closely.
