Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler
Main event time!
Ziggler dominates at the start, especially after shoving Reigns off into some steel steps. Arm lock on Reigns, slapping him upside the head until delivering uppercuts to Ziggler, until the latter slam Reigns’ head into the middle turnbuckle.
On the outside, Ziggler slams Reigns into the barricade, then back into the ring for a two count pin attempt, then locking in a tight, tight rest hold sleeper. Until Reigns is able to fight out of it for a comeback spot.
Eventually, Reigns goes for a Superman Punch outside the ring, but catches a Superkick to the gut. Both men are down as King Corbin arrives to the ring, leading us into one last commercial break. He watches from atop the ramp on his throne.
Back from break, both men evade Superman Punches and Superkicks in the ring until Ziggler hits a big DDT for a nearfall. Then goes for a Zig Zag, but Reigns hangs on the ropes. Ziggler snaps into a sunset flip for an even closer nearfall before getting caught with a Superman Punch for a two count.
Reigns sets up for a Spear, but runs into a knee before getting thrown into the ring post, setting up a Zig Zag from Reigns for a nearfall. That’s when Corbin inches closer down the ramp to the ring. Corbin climbs to the apron arguing with the ref.
Reigns hits Corbin with a Superman Punch, leaving himself open for a roll up from Ziggler, but kicks out, springing into a Spear for the win.
Afterwards, Corbin’s throne porter help Corbin to his feet, but Reigns takes them all out, before getting blasted by a clothesline from Corbin, but Reigns eventually fights him off.
Reigns teases a powerbomb through the announcers table until Ziggler nails him with a superkick to the back of the head. He then handcuffs Reigns to the ring post with help from Corbin and the porter security staff. They mug Reigns with a flurry of punches. They then poor dog food (yes, dog food) all over Reigns.
Winner: Roman Reigns
Grade: B+
These two always have fantastic chemistry and tonight was no different. Also liked the post-match attack, until the dog food came into play. That was just a little too corny to me. Promised humiliation, sure, but still corny. Corbin then nails Reigns with his scepter.
Overall Grade: B+
I thought this was a really, really well done show thanks to some great matches. The Miz/Bray angle was great (even if it does borrow elements from Bray/Roman’s feud from three years ago) and the tag match especially was fun stuff. Also really enjoyed Bliss vs. Rose.
The only glaring blindspots were small parts of the Evans/Banks promo and the very end of that attack that closed out the show. Other than that, this was quite nearly, arguably a great show.
