John Cena is out here teasing a shock match at WWE TLC 2019
John Cena has been at a Pay Per View in every year since debuting in 2002, but 2019 could be the year he “breaks the streak” if he does not perform at WWE TLC 2019 on Dec. 15.
Although John Cena will always be a part of the company, he hasn’t wrestled at a Pay Per View in 2019. Cena did play a key role in putting over Finn Balor and Becky Lynch during Rumble/WrestleMania season earlier this year and appeared as the Dr. of Thuganomics at WrestleMania 35 in a segment with Elias, but he has yet to wrestle on PPV this year.
If Cena does not make a shock appearance for a match at WWE TLC 2019 on Dec. 15, he will break his streak of 17 years with at least one PPV match in WWE. This streak speaks to Cena’s longevity in wrestling and importance for the company, but the breaking of the streak may be a positive in the sense that it speaks to the level of talent currently on the WWE roster. As we saw at WrestleMania 35, the company no longer needs Cena to carry things.
Cena is always self aware of his position in the company and the chatter around him. As such, he made another clever Instagram photo tease, posting a meme hinting at a surprise match at TLC.
Do you think a surprise John Cena match will happen at TLC this year to keep the streak alive and make it an 18-year streak going into 2020 and WrestleMania 36 season?
It’s highly unlikely WWE has an unannounced match for Cena at the Target Center, but seeing as how only the tag titles are being defended on the seven-match card, it’s not exactly impossible for Cena to give fans a little bit of a holiday surprise in Minneapolis on Sunday evening.
Stay tuned. Don’t count on anything like that happening, because, well, Cena loves to tease and playfully troll fans on Insta.
