WWE TLC 2019: Bray Wyatt vs. The Miz offers cinematic curiosity
In what may be considered a sleeper hit of WWE TLC 2019, The Miz vs. Bray Wyatt was strange, yet captivating on a cinematic level.
In the build-up to WWE TLC 2019, The Miz approached Daniel Bryan to tell him that he should not go toe to toe with Bray Wyatt ever again as an encounter with The Fiend has changed every man the monster has ever faced yet. Including Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, and of course, Bryan himself.
Now, we can add The Miz to that not so lucky list, only he has the rare instance tonight of being the only man on the list to not face off with The Fiend directly. Instead, he wrestled Bray Wyatt at WWE TLC 2019 and, yes, there is a difference between the two characters.
In what is technically his in-ring debut (as the Firefly Fun House host, at least), Bray Wyatt entered the ring with his sweater and blue belt only to get destroyed by a much more violent Miz than we have ever seen.
After weeks of being frustrated by Wyatt’s mind games towards his family, The Miz let out all of his transgressions towards the puppet master and this time, it appears he had his strings all over The Miz.
He forced The Miz to reach depths he was adamant about not going. From the start, he did not want to play Wyatt’s games, and yet that’s exactly what he did. He wanted to avoid a fight with Wyatt knowing the kind of changes that could be endured. Yet, he found himself changed in the process.
By the end, Miz’s own anger was his downfall as he could have finished Wyatt quickly with a Skull Crushing Finale, but rather than go for a pin, he continued the punishment, eventually leaving himself wide open for two Sister Abigails, costing himself the victory.
When analyzing the storytelling, the match took a very cinematic, creative approach. It also produced intrigue for future matches and storylines for Bray Wyatt, be it with The Miz or Daniel Bryan.
