WWE: 3 reasons why Rhea Ripley should win the NXT Women’s Title
Changing of the guard
Baszler’s dominance over the NXT roster has tremendously helped to sustain her credibility as champion but leaves very few new contenders as most of them have already been defeated and in quite a few cases, more than once.
Putting Ripley at the helm of the NXT Women’s division allows for relatively newer matchup possibilities. Shirai and Belair have both recently re-emerged to declare their intention to challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship. A bout between Ripley and either of the two or both can easily fill a slot on the next TakeOver assuming this Wednesday is the last time Baszler and Ripley face each other for a while.
Dakota Kai eventually challenging Ripley isn’t far-fetched considering Ripley shutting Kai out of her original lineup for WarGames is what led her to go rogue in the first place. Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox or even someone from the NXT UK roster can be positioned to challenge Ripley if given the right circumstances.
Ripley is the best possible choice to defeat Baszler, become champion and begin the first steps to staking her claim as a brand cornerstone in the process.
She’s young, wildly popular and has an insanely captivating star presence that becomes more and more apparent as time passes. Ripley as Women’s Champion would create immediate buzz in addition to giving NXT another franchise piece for years to come.
