AEW Dynamite: Results, Highlights, and Grades for Dec 18th, 2019

Back from break it is The Butcher and The Blade taking on Cody and Darby Allin.

The Butcher & The Blade (1-0 in tag team action) w The Bunny vs Cody & Darby Allin (0-0 in tag team action)

Cody and The Butcher start off in the ring but Darby tags in quick. The Butcher swings Darby around like he weighs nothing and tags out to The Blade. Darby knocks down Butcher and hits a springboard arm drag on Blade. Butcher starts pounding on Cody and hits an explosive lariat on “The American Nightmare”. Blade tags in but Cody hits his signature powerslam. Cody almost gets the tag but gets stopped by Butcher. Bunny distracts the ref as Cody gets taken to the outside. Blade carries Cody to the corner and hits a combo elevated leg drop with Butcher as we go to break.

Back from commercial break Cody is on the floor being worked over by The Blade. Butcher tags in and throws Cody around but Cody fires up. Butcher won’t let him get the tag though and Cody evades both his opponents until he and Blade collide.

Darby finally gets the tag and runs wild and hits a Code Red on Blade but Butcher stops him in his tracks. Butcher locks in the Texas Cloverleaf on Darby as Blade and Cody fight on the outside. Darby hits his inverted Diamond Dust on Blade as Cody tags in and hits Cross Rhodes on Butcher but Bunny distracts the ref.

The babyface duo hit stereo suicide dives to their opponents. Cody rolls Blade back in. Cody hits a Disaster kick on Butcher and Darby hits the downed man with a Coffin Drop. Cody then hits a massive Cody Cutter to Blade and gets the victory for his team.

Result:  Darby Allin & Cody (1-0)

The Butcher & The Blade losing their second match in AEW isn’t a great look but the match went well and they were defeated by an all star duo of AEW talent so maybe this loss can be forgiven.
