No wins despite great spots

“Always the bridesmaid, never the bride,” is how the saying goes. Similarly, Kofi Kingston has always been the proverbial iron man of the Royal Rumble match, but never the Royal Rumble winner.

He’s proven to hold tremendous amounts of endurance whenever he enters the match, often lasts a long time, and of course, he always has the most memorable spots where he saves himself from elimination. And yet, every time without fail, despite the Royal Rumble (and battle royals in general) becoming his unwritten signature match, he eventually gets eliminated.

It’s like if Cactus Jack never won a Hardcore Match, or The Undertaker never won a Casket Match. It’s just one of those bizarre facts to think that despite how closely tied Kofi’s career is to the Rumble, he’s never won one. It is something so bizarre that I think it needs to be corrected sooner rather than later.

As another saying goes, there is no better time than the present, so I say let Kofi win the Rumble match at the very next one a month from now. After all, Kofi’s getting up there and as he’s suggested himself, his career is dwindling down. He’s not going to be able to pull off those cool save spots forever.

He needs to win a Rumble now. If not in 2020, then when?
